The name prompted the first question: was it an island for Easter eggs? Then we looked at photographs of the moai, and one question quickly became four. How were they made? How were they moved? Were they guarding something? And what were they all looking at? Those breakfast questions grew into Lina’s treasure hunt across Rapa Nui, because one curious question rarely travels alone. The story ## What it's about When Lina begins wondering about Rapa Nui and its towering stone moai, a garden treasure hunt and a swirl of Toto’s magic carry her across the ocean to the island itself. There she meets Tavake, a very proud seabird with a treasure map and clues to follow. To find what the moai are guarding, Lina must move a rock that refuses to budge, solve the puzzle of a pearly shell and discover that treasure is not always something you can put in your pocket. ### *“For every little explorer who knows that a big  question can become an adventure.”* A look inside ## Peek between the pages ![Page 6: Book excerpt in which Lina asks how the moai were made, how they were moved and what they are looking at.](https://148756376.fs1.hubspotusercontent-eu1.net/hub/148756376/hubfs/page6.webp?width=1200&length=1200&name=page6.webp) ![Page 7: Lina sits at Easter breakfast with Daddy and Papa, pointing at photographs of the moai on Daddy’s phone.](https://148756376.fs1.hubspotusercontent-eu1.net/hub/148756376/hubfs/page7.webp?width=1200&length=1200&name=page7.webp) ![Page 14: Book excerpt in which Lina discovers that the moai were made from the rock of Rapa Nui before finding the next clue.](https://148756376.fs1.hubspotusercontent-eu1.net/hub/148756376/hubfs/page14-1.webp?width=1200&length=1200&name=page14-1.webp) ![Page 15: Lina, Toto and Tavake gaze up at an enormous stone moai beneath the blue sky of Rapa Nui.](https://148756376.fs1.hubspotusercontent-eu1.net/hub/148756376/hubfs/page15-1.webp?width=1200&length=1200&name=page15-1.webp) ![Page 16: Book excerpt in which Lina, Toto and Tavake try unsuccessfully to move a large rock hiding the treasure.](https://148756376.fs1.hubspotusercontent-eu1.net/hub/148756376/hubfs/page16-2.webp?width=1200&length=1200&name=page16-2.webp) ![Page 17: Lina, Toto and Tavake sit glumly beside the immovable rock, with a coil of rope resting on top and seven moai in the distance.](https://148756376.fs1.hubspotusercontent-eu1.net/hub/148756376/hubfs/page17-2.webp?width=1200&length=1200&name=page17-2.webp) Gently, it's about ## More than a treasure hunt #### **Curiosity & big questions** • **Rapa Nui & the moai** • **Clever thinking & teamwork** • **Respect for people and place** • **Treasures worth protecting** Kind words ## What readers say ★★★★★ **Mammoth facts** “Another sweet story in the series, not only a lovely bedtime story but also great to learn a few facts about mammoths.” — Amazon reviewer  More to read  ## The rest of the series ![Lina and the Magic Paintbrush Surprise by Jack d'Bourg — English cover.](https://jackdbourg.com/hs-fs/hubfs/en_cover375-1.webp?width=375&height=375&name=en_cover375-1.webp) ### Lina and the Magic Paintbrush Surprise A magical picture book about imagination, courage and creativity — and finding light on a grey day.
